General Bonaparte. A drama in five acts, [late 19th century].

Manuscript, in a single hand, of a copy of a five-act play concerning the rise of Napoleon Buonaparte, beginning with the siege of Toulon in 1793 and ending with Napoleon's declaration as consul at the Council of 500 at Saint Cloud in 1799. The play dramatizes equally both political and military events as well as romantic affairs, including Napoleon's time in prison; the Battle of Arcola; and the Battle of the Pyramids; Napoleon's relationship with Josephine; her affair with Hippolyte Charles; and Napoleon's aide Jean-Andoche Junot's relationship with various women. The volume is a combination of printed text pasted into the manuscript; typewritten text directly on the page; and handwritten notes.
